Ryan is an assistant professor at Indiana University Bloomington. He obtained his PhD and MMath degrees from the University of Waterloo in 2014. His research focuses on the systems challenges of applied cryptography, with a particularly emphasis on using cryptography to build secure systems that preserve the privacy of their users. He is especially interested in systems for accountable anonymity, privacy-preserving e-commerce, and censorship-resistant communications.
